Japanese 001A. Accelerated Intensive Elementary Japanese (15 units)

Course Description: Special 12-week accelerated, intensive summer session course that combines the work of Japanese 001, 002 and 003. Introduction to Japanese grammar and development of all language skills in a cultural context with emphasis on communication. This course is a comprehensive initiation into the Japanese language and includes introduction to the different syllabaries, elementary kanji characters, increasingly sophisticated sentence structures, expressions and context and a variety of Japanese socio-cultural topics. Preview the course material here. Not open for credit to students who have completed Japanese 001, 002 or 003.

Prerequisite: None.

GE credit (New): Arts & Humanities, Oral Literacy and World Cultures.

Format: Lecture/Discussion.
